Mark Lorenz - Country Music Artist

So, I did go ahead and get the Canon 40D, it came with a 28-135mm lens. I love it! Really enjoying the camera thus far, just wish it weren't so cold out (around -30) right now so I could get outside and run around with it some more. Hopefully this cold snap will break soon, brrrr.

I did have the opportunity on Saturday to do a shoot a local musician, Mark Lorenz. His manager set up a local dealership showroom for us, so the shoot was all about cars, trucks, and a bit of country music. Here are a few sneak peeks, more to come on my flickr page, eventually. It was a great shoot and I had a lot of fun.

Considering New Equipment

Originally I was holding out for the Canon 50D, but now that it's out and reviewed I just don't see the additional cost as being worth it over the 40D. I would love the 5D Mark II, but don't really wish to make the investment right now!

So what I am looking at is this -- there is a Canon 40D kit, that comes with two lenses, a 28-135mm IS and a 70-300mm lens. And it is on sale until the end of the year!

Gives me some time to think about it, anyway. And, naturally, I need lots of accessories. A backpack photo bag instead of the shoulder bag I currently use, a new flash, large capacity CF card. I am also very interested in a converter that will let me use my high quality old FD glass lenses on the EF body cameras. That would be a lot of fun.

Ahh, photography, so many wonderful tools!

Bud & Christine

My most recent shoot was with a lovely and playful couple, Bud and Christine. We enjoyed Confederation Park here in Calgary on a lovely weekend afternoon. Many thanks to both of them for letting me take their photos!

First Post!

I am happy to have finally fired up a photography blog for Redfern Photography. I plan to post pics here and any interesting updates. Stay tuned!
